- the urgent need for action

According to Météo-France, heatwaves in France are becoming more frequent, and are expected to double by 2050.

In 2003, a heatwave caused 141% more deaths in Paris and 40% in rural areas.

In 2022, 81.51% of the French population lived in urban areas. Temperatures of over 40°C have become 19 times more frequent since the 2000s, averaging 16 times a year.

In August 2023, the 19th consecutive month above standards was recorded. Urban heat islands (UHIs) can be observed in some French cities during summer nights, contributing significantly to excess mortality.

By 2050, several major French cities could be facing annual heatwaves in excess of 50°C. Worldwide, more than half the population lives in urban areas, with a projected 6.4 billion urban dwellers by 2050. These urban heat islands are likely to be 5 to 10° hotter in city centers than in more remote suburbs or suburban areas.

It is imperative to take measures to mitigate these devastating effects by creating islands of freshness. Greening urban spaces and watering holes are one way of doing this. Increasing green spaces by 10% could save the social security system 94 million euros/year by reducing asthma and hypertension, and would help slow down global warming.

Water and biodiversity must be at the heart of our concerns. By 2100, the average temperature in France will have risen by 5.4°C! Today, 80% of towns and cities with more than 10,000 inhabitants are already developing strategies to adapt to climate change.

- our vision

At OdysséeLab, we believe that the solution will come from plants. Indeed, plants are invaluable for their nourishing qualities, for supporting biodiversity, for their ability to capture carbon and for their capacity to cool cities and combat global warming.

Water flows resulting from vegetation evapotranspiration, taking heat from the air so that water changes from liquid to vapor. Temperature gains of 0.5 to 4°C are generally observed, with effects that can be felt up to 2km away and an average felt temperature of -13°C.

Today, there are still many innovations to be created using plants to find solutions for limiting global warming and absorbing CO2.

By creating links between the knowledge and skills of different professions, we are convinced that we are inventing relevant solutions in the service of water and plants.

- our company

OdysséeLab is a fast-growing startup created in 2023. We develop innovative solutions around water, plant and biodiversity management to contribute to a more sustainable future. Our innovations are designed to adapt to the needs of all those involved in the plant industry, helping them to meet the challenges of economic, social and environmental transition.

We focus on water, plants and their resilience. We understand plants and their autonomous, efficient watering. Our aim is to create a complex living ecosystem rich in biodiversity.

On January 5, 2023, OdysséeLab filed a patent for the creation of ODISI: a unique combined drainage and irrigation device in the form of a tablecloth that can be used in cities to create islands of coolness(green roofs, grassed areas, vegetable gardens, tramways, sports surfaces, etc.).

The declination for equestrian floors, EQUISIallows you to control the irrigation of your equestrian surfaces, such as arenas and riding arenas. Water is rapidly evacuated during rainy periods, stored and automatically reused to ensure that the sand always performs well. An asset for the well-being of the horses and people who work there!
