Our ODISI innovation
Innovation to meet the challenges of transitional issues
Water saving
Our solutions enable rainwater to be stored when it is in excess, and re-mobilized when the weather is dry. Drip irrigation enables precise, economical management of this water resource.
Freshness
As part of the fight against urban heat islands, vegetation reduces outdoor temperatures by up to -4° (-13° in perceived temperature) and improves air quality (CO2 capture, pollution).
Time saving
Our innovations facilitate the work of plant professionals by providing simple, complete and automated solutions.
Biodiversity
Fauna, flora: urban green spaces are part of the green network that helps to develop biodiversity in urban areas, while adding to the well-being of the people who live there.
- Our first patent on water and plants: ODISI
Three main factors help create urban cool islands (UCIs): shading, water and vegetation.
We filed our first patent in January 2023: the ODISI solution for creating resilient vegetated areas (green roofs, grassed surfaces, vegetable gardens, sports fields, lawns etc.).
The principle is to collect and drain rainwater via the ODISI sheet to a storage area. It is then reused during drier periods thanks to an integrated drip irrigation system.
ODISI: a single installation for successful implementation.
Drainage AND irrigation in a single step:
- Filtering rainwater
- Drain rainwater and runoff
- Channel this water to a storage area
- Better water retention and distribution
- Irrigate plants with controlled substrate humidity
- ODISI: Drainage and irrigation in a single step
The innovation of the ODISI sheet consists in combining drainage and irrigation functions in a single product. It is delivered in the form of an unrollable roll weighing around 33kg. The ODISI sheet roll supplied is 20m x 2m, and can be cut to fit smaller spaces. For larger spaces, where two sheets join, they can be overlapped, keeping layout consistent
(alternating drip and drain).
ODISI consists of several components:
- The upper filtration layer keeps the substrate above the filter layer.
- In the middle of ODISI, alternating drainage (yellow) and drip (blue) pipes every 50cm to ensure water drainage during raining periods and water reuse via the drip irrigation system in dry periods.
- The sub-layer allowing for good water retention and distribution
- Uses of the ODISI sheet

When lawn runs out of water: consequences and solutions.
We have multiple impact of lack of water on grassed surfaces. The consequences can be aesthetic, environmental and economic.
What type of green roof should I choose for my home?
Extensive or intensive green roof? What are the factors to consider when choosing a green roof?
- faq: the answer to your most frequently asked questions!
The ODISI roller weight around 33kg. It can be fitted into an elevator to go easily to the roof (2m wide).
For gardens or green roofs, we recommend the use of ODISI.
The slope must be less than 6% for the product to be used properly.
For optimum use, provide a storage area for the water collected during drainage.
We are also developing other uses in parallel: contact us for more information!
On the roof, position directly ODISI on the waterproof roof covering. Then, unroll the Urbanscape Green Roll or
spread the substrate in an even layer.
Next, position the vegetation (rolls of sedum, sod or seedlings) on
the substrate. The waterproofing for green roofs is resistant to root penetration.
In the garden, ODISI is positioned on the ground after the topsoil has been removed. The topsoil is then placed back on ODISI (over 15-20cm), after which plants can be sown, planted or the turf roll can be unrolled.
Yes, the size of a roll is: 20m long by 2m wide. ODISI can be cut to fit smaller spaces in width and length.
Two sheets can also be overlapped to cover greater widths or lengths. In this case, be sure to keep the layout consistent: a drain pipe and then a drip irrigation pipe, alternating every 50cm.
You need at least the width of a drip and a drain (every 50cm). So surfaces must be at least 1.20m wide.
There's no limit to the maximum size: it's the collection, water supply and storage network, the pump... that need to be sized according to the surface area of the product installed.
Contact us for any project over 400m² on a roof: we'll be happy to help you size it.
The ODISI sheets are designed for easy overlapping. You can place a second sheet on top of the first. We recommend an overlap of 10-15cm.
The weight of the soil / substrate / Urbanscape Green Roll will hold both sheets in position.
All sources of water can be used. We recommend collecting drainage water during rainy periods and reusing it during dry periods.
Water must be filtered to a minimum of 130 microns to ensure proper operation and durability of the drip irrigation system.
Take care to ensure sufficient water flow for the entire surface.
Remember to winterize the irrigation system to prevent frost damage.
It's essential to ensure that plants get off to a good start, whether sown, planted or rolled out. To achieve this, the substrate, Urbanscape Green Roll or soil / compost mix must be saturated with water. The vegetation must then be watered copiously to ensure good emergence and/or rooting of the plants.
It's best to install during a rainy period, and not too hot. Irrigation should then be carefully monitored to adjust its automation. We advise against installation in summer.
In the garden, you can use your own topsoil if it's suitable for your plants and/or you can top it up with the appropriate compost.
On roofs, use Urbanscape Green Roll or an elaborate, standardized substrate.
When sowing or planting, it's essential to saturate the substrate with water before installing the plants, and to monitor their proper rooting.
The substrate must be evenly distributed to ensure good plant growth.
For green roofs, ODISI is suitable for extensive and semi-extensive vegetation.
For gardens, we recommend limiting plants to those with root systems no larger than 10-15cm. The roots must not become embedded in the ODISI layer. When laying rolls of turf, make sure that the rolls are laid edge to edge, but without overlapping, as with sedum rolls.
The precise choice of plants will depend on your climate and location.
Once the ODISI sheet is in place and protected by 15-20cm of soil/substrate, it can be walked on and rolled over without damaging the drainage and drip irrigation pipes.
